You can use your camera to talk to people via Nest's companion app on your smartphone. So if you need to talk to a delivery guy or want to warn a contractor to get his boots off your carpet, you can.

How to talk through your Nest Cam
The first thing you obviously need to do is to make sure your Nest Cam or Hello video doorbell is all set up, and that your Nest companion app is ready to go.
Luckily, it's all pretty easy to do. To get started, just open up the Nest app.
1) Choose the camera.
2) Tap the Talk button.
3) Say something.
4) Tap the Talk button again to hang up.
Boom, you're all done. Be warned, however, that you can't adjust the speaker volume on the camera. So if someone is hard of hearing they might not be able to hear you too well.
Also be aware that on the Nest Hello, you get quick responses that'll make the camera speak for you.
You should already be aware that you're now unable to disable the status light of your Nest Cam and that people will always get a visual indicator that you are recording them.
Google states that the status light always being on when the Cam recording footage is "a clear visual indicator when your Nest cameras are on and sending video and audio to Nest".
