Back at its big September event, Amazon announced a new Samuel L. Jackson voice for Alexa – and that’s just dropped over in the US.

Jackson doesn’t take over the whole Alexa experience – but can be summoned for different tasks. You can ask Alexa to ask Jackson to respond to specific queries.

It costs $1, which will be charged to your Amazon account.

We’d really have liked to have seen a gimmick like this be put towards charity or something – but there you go. It’s a way of getting people interacting with their Alexa speaker – and crucially for many people it will be their first transaction using Alexa.

And if you like that check out our guides to changing Alexa's voice – and of course the best Alexa commands.

How to enable Samuel L. Jackson on Alexa

1. It’s a pretty simple process. If you live in the US just say “Alexa, introduce me to Samuel L. Jackson”.

2. You’ll get a spiel from Alexa and then you’ll need to confirm you’re happy to pay $1.

3. Choose whether you want explicit or clean language.

4. Say “Alexa, ask Samuel,” or “Alexa ask Sam Jackson” or “Alexa ask Samuel L. Jackson” to get started.
