Abode, one of The Ambient‘s top picks in the DIY smart home security system space, is expanding its ecosystem with the launch of an Apple TV app and an update to its Android TV app.
Abode users will now be able to manage their home security and smart devices directly from their TVs, rounding out an already robust lineup of control options across mobile, smartwatches, tablets, and desktop devices.
The new Abode Apple TV app brings the interface to more living room screens, letting you arm and disarm your system, check device status, and view live feeds from up to four cameras simultaneously, from the likes of the Abode Video Doorbell.
You’ll also be able to access recorded video clips, control select devices via quick actions managed through Abode CUE, and scroll through past footage with the 24/7 video recording add-on.
Signing into the Apple TV app is straightforward, with support for both Apple device authentication and manual login.
Alongside the Apple TV launch, Abode has introduced an upgraded version of its Android TV app.
The revamped app lets Android TV users to stream live feeds from up to four cameras, review recorded clips, and manage select devices.
While the menu layout and navigation differ slightly from the Apple TV version, the core functionality is the same.
Both the Abode Apple TV and Android TV apps are available now for download on their respective app stores.
Abode provides a variety of self-installed home security systems from the entry-level Security Kit up to the top-end Gateway and Iota systems.
There’s also a bunch of cameras and users can expand their systems with a wide range of additional sensors, modules and keypads to customize their setups.
I’ve been using an Abode system for years and it’s easily one of the most reliable brands in the smart security market.
