Amazon in the UK currently has a promotion where you can get an Echo Dot for just 99p if you take out Amazon Music Unlimited Family Plan for £14.99 a month. You also get a month free trial of the service. That means you're essentially only paying £15.98 for an Echo Dot along with two months of Amazon Music Unlimited with Family Plan.
The all-important terms and conditions state that you'll be charged £14.99 for your first paid month of Amazon Music Unlimited once your initial 30-day trial ends. Within a week of your trial ending, and becoming a paid member, you'll be e-mailed a code entitling you to an Echo Dot for the low-low price of just 99p.
That's it. Whether or not you carry on subscribing to Amazon Music Unlimited for another month or beyond is entirely up to you, as you can cancel at any time.
There are a lot of reasons to carry on, though, with 50 million tracks to stream ad-free and with offline playback.
As this is a Family Plan, you can also have six individual accounts; meaning the whole family can create their own individual libraries and playlists, and listen across multiple devices simultaneously. No need to share.
Of course, Amazon Music Unlimited works perfectly with Echo smart speakers, which is the point of this bit of clever cross-promotion. Just ask Alexa to play your favourite tracks or playlists and she'll oblige courtesy of Amazon Music Unlimited's extensive library.
This promotion is a nice bit of competition against Spotify and Google's collaboration, which saw free Google Home devices given to Spotify Premium subscribers in the UK.
It's also worth noting, if signing up for Amazon Music Unlimited to save on an Echo Dot sounds like too much work, you can currently buy an Echo Dot for £29.99, a saving of £20.
