If you took a look at our Arlo Pro 3 review and thought that it wasn't quite the standout security camera you were after, then you're in luck. The Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera has just gone live over in Vegas at CES 2020, packing all the smarts of its non-floodlit brethren, but with a much bolder design.
It's bold as, either side of the camera face, 2,000 lumen floodlight wings are in place to brighten up the area you're surveying. If you add a cable in you can get the brightness up to 3,000 lumens.
The original Pro 3 has a light on board, by the way, by way of a 1,000 lumen spotlight above the sensor; so the new model is definitely aimed at people who want a much brighter picture.
Budget option: Arlo Essential review
There's an ambient light sensor that is used to automatically turn on the lights when it’s getting dark outside. You can specify exactly how dark you want it to be before the light turns on.
You can also choose between three different light patterns - constant, flashing, and pulsing - which you can set to happen when certain automations are triggered.

Aside from the improved lighting and the spec-sheet looks pretty much on par; so that's a battery powered smart security camera with 2K recording, with HDR also in the mix. The lightning also means that the camera can also record in color in night vision mode.
The new Floodlight Camera has a 160 degree wide field of view and have upgraded microphones (from the Pro 2 line), in order to pick up sound and speech and offer 2-way audio. The Pro 3 range was the first Arlo cameras to pack a siren, letting them act as a deterrent when needed and that's again included with the new model.
The Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera can independently tilt, zoom and pan to keep subjects in frame, just like the flagship camera range from the company, the Arlo Ultra. That could make it easier to cover broader areas without having to buy more cameras than you'd like.
The Pro 3 Floodlight Camera has a battery life of six months, and is IP65 weather-resistant. It will go on sale in the spring of 2020 for $249.99
