Arlo has pulled its new Arlo Ultra 4K wireless home security camera from the shelves at Best Buy after early adopters reported some serious performance issues.
The Arlo Ultra camera was unveiled last year, but has been MIA since – and it seems this could be the reason why. Tech Hive reports that Arlo has been rolling out software updates to try and fix the issues, with a raft of over-the-air updates between 15 - 30 January to both the base station and cameras themselves. But it seems that performance is still so problematic that it's suspended sales.
"After end-user sales began, we identified some performance challenges in specific user environments. As such, we have aggressively worked to release firmware updates to solve these challenges. As a result of the firmware updates, we are now seeing positive feedback on the forums from users," the company said in a statement.
The Arlo Ultra follows on from the Arlo Pro 2 – which got a rave review in our testing. The Ultra not only offers 4K recording, but also advanced motion alerts – all from a completely wire-free set up. We’re pushing for our review sample as soon as these problems are resolved.
