It's been in the works for a couple of years now but, finally, the AtmosControl smart home hub is here. Sort of - pre-orders are now open and its makers have committed to a Q2 2019 shipping window.
Stories about the smart home hub display device have been circulating over the last few months following a successful crowdfund campaign on StartEngine and a $1 million seed round from lighting manufacturer Luminance Brands, but it seems as if we're finally getting close to getting our fingers on the touchscreen control panel - which, we're told, works with over 1,000 smart home devices.

‚ÄúSmart home users want systems that are easy to connect and simple to use,‚ÄĚ said Mark Lyle, CEO and co-founder of Atmos Home. ‚ÄúNo more searching for an app on your phone just to adjust a light. You can access everything in one place. AtmosControl is the only smart home hub you‚Äôll ever need."
It's certainly not a new idea - high end systems from the likes of Control4 are centred around touch-screen control panels - but, at less than $300, the AtmosControl hub has the chance to hit the mainstream consumer's budget. It does, however, now have serious rivals such as Brilliant's Smart Home Controller that went on sale earlier this year.
However, AtmosControl has some big claims when it comes to compatibility. Nest, Sonos, Apple TV, Spotify, Lifx, Fibaro, Hue, Lightwave, Lutron, Wink, Roku... the list of brands it supposedly plays nicely with is a star-studded who's who of the smart home world.
The AtmosControl features an HD screen, a quad-core processor and packs in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-Wave and Infrared.
You can pre-order now in an Onyx Black or Steel Grey. Use the code 'CES2019' this month and you'll get $30 off to $299 launch price. The company says it will be shipping pre-orders in Q2 of 2019, with a larger rollout to follow later this year.
