CES 2025: What impressed us on show at the Las Vas tech expo
The Consumer Electronics Show, better known as CES, is the traditional start to the tech year, with a who’s who of the tech world showing off what they have in store for the months ahead.
Taking place in Las Vegas, the smart home has once again been a key theme of CES 2025, with an army of of brands keen to show off the latest devices they want you to connect to your smart home setup.
Matter, automation and AI were definitely three of the CES 2025 buzzwords and you’ll see those mentioned a lot in our pick of the Best in Show products…
Roborock Saros Z70
Roborock used CES 2025 to unveil a barrage of new tech, the most notable of which is – without doubt – was the Roborock Saros Z70, which features a robotic arm.
The technical term for that robo-claw is OmniGrip and it’s a foldable five-axis robot arm that uses the Z70’s onboard AI to determine if there are things that need picking up and putting away.
It’s not going to put your furniture back in place, or anything like that, but it will be on hand to collect stuff like tissues, waste paper, socks and even lightweight shoes.
Dreame also had a robotic arm on show in Vegas, but that was on a prototype, so Roborock has stolen a march on the claw-grabbing front, at least.
Govee Gaming Pixel Light
Govee took the covers off of a trio of cutting-edge smart lighting products, aimed at pimping up your entertainment and gaming spaces.
It was the Govee Gaming Pixel Light that most caught our attention; it’s a slick looking device that we haven’t really seen the likes of before… Govee tells us that it’s the industry’s first AI-powered pixel light.
It lets you to create pixel art with enhanced AI lighting technology, and there are also real-time graphics for things like weather updates, NBA schedules, or Bitcoin tracking.
Its immersive 8-bit AIGC visuals can also be paired with music will offer a fun, dynamic addition to gaming setups.
Mova V50 Ultra
Mova is a new name in the smart robot vacuum cleaning world but it made a pretty big splash at CES, by becoming the biggest sucker of the show.
CES 2025 saw launches of a multitude of new robo cleaners hitting a 20,000Pa or more suction including Roborock, Dreame and Eureka.
But it was Chinese brand Mova that stole the crown, with a staggering 24,000Pa suction rating on its new flagship, the Mova V50 Ultra.
The V50 Ultra not only boasts an incredible suction engine but also a wealth of high-end tech that we’ve seen as the standout features from other CES launches.
Definitely a brand to keep an eye on.
SwitchBot Multitasking Household Robot K20+ Pro
SwitchBot used CES 2025 for the unveiling of one of the most talked about devices at the show.
The K20+ Pro is a household robot that juggles more tasks than you’d think possible (or even needed).
Vacuuming, air purification, home security, delivering snacks, and even DIY modding, this modular marvel wants to do it all.
Whether it’s patrolling the house for security, carrying out air purification duties, or ferrying drinks to the couch, the K20+ Pro wants to replace an entire lineup of single-purpose devices with one shape-shifting machine.
Ultraloq Bolt Mission UWB+NFC
The Ultraloq Bolt Mission UWB+NFC was on show at its parent company Xthings’ booth, and is the first smart lock to support ultra-wideband (UWB) technology.
Ultra-wideband is a wireless protocol that operates at high frequencies, allowing devices to communicate and track precise location over short distances.
Like the tech found in car keys, UWB offers a more reliable, hands-free unlocking experience compared to existing methods that rely on Bluetooth, GPS, or Wi-Fi.
This means that the lock can accurately detect when an authorized user approaches, unlocking automatically.
Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni
With so many robot vacuum cleaners being unveiled at CES 2025, new entries had to have something compelling about them to stand out from the crowd.
With Ecovacs, and its latest flagship Deebot, the X8 Pro Omni, that something was a new mopping system whereby the robot cleans its own mopping pads, even while its cleaning your house.
The new Ozmo Roller Mop tech uses enhanced pressure and speed, combined with instant self-washing mopping technology, to ensure the mop roller is continuously cleaned during operation for streak-free, contamination-free floors.
Ecoflow Oasis
EcoFlow used CES 2025 to take the covers off of EcoFlow Oasis; an AI-powered energy management system designed to redefine how users approach energy usage, storage, and sustainability.
By leveraging real-time data and using artificial intelligence, the Ecoflow Oasis system promises to give users tailored recommendations to optimize energy storage, prepare for power outages, and reduce electricity costs.
The system integrates with EcoFlow’s portfolio of power back up gadgets, both portable and whole-home and, by using inputs such as historic energy consumption, local utility rates, solar energy production, and weather forecasts, delivers actionable insights and automations, such as ensuring batteries are charged ahead of severe weather or shifting high-energy appliance use to stored solar power during peak pricing hours.
Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus
Aqara, as it always does, used CES to officially announce a whole bunch of new kit; including some swanky new additions for vying for your wall space.
The most notable of which was the Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus. The S1 Plus is a 6.9-inch touchscreen smart home hub that is powered by existing light switch wiring.
It’s capable of controlling a couple of dumb lights that are connected to the switch wires, and supports MARS Tech’s Smart Load mode, meaning wireless control of Aqara smart lights, with constant power to the light circuit.
Boasting dual-band WiFi and doubling as a Zigbee hub and Matter bridge, it can handle everything from live camera feeds to thermostat adjustments and users can personalize themes, dashboards, and widgets, or upload family photos to display.
Flic Duo
The Flic Duo is the latest smart controller from Shortcut Labs, boasting – as you may have guessed from the name – a pair of smart buttons in one form factor.
But it isn’t simply a double-up of a regular Flic button. If you detach it from its magnetic mount, you can unlock a whole new world of possibilities.
Swipes, rotations, and other gestures transform it into a full-blown remote control for your smart home.
SwitchBot Lock Ultra
Also on show at the SwitchBot booth, along with the crazy K20+ Pro, was the SwitchBot Lock Ultra; an upgrade to last year’s Lock Pro with an even more renter-friendly design to retrofit onto almost any existing lock.
Boasting a FastUnlock system, users will be able to unlock using one of 16 methods, including fingerprint recognition, app control, and voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant.
It boasts a six-layer security system, including AES-128 encryption and there’s Matter compatibility if you throw a SwitchBot hub into the mix too.
Shelly Gen4
Shelly used the big Vegas tech expo to announce the debut of its Gen4 Series; a new collection of devices that could be a nifty solution for anyone looking to build or upgrade their home automation setup.
The updated Shelly devices mean that users can switch between protocols on the fly, meaning they can use a devices in whatever way works best for their home, all while ensuring secure and seamless connectivity.
The new Gen4 line-up covers a wide area of connected devices with relays, sensors, and plug-and-play modules helping you automate power, lighting, heating, security, energy management and more.
The Gen4 products, as with a lot of the Shelly range, also plays nicely with major platforms like Google Home and Alexa and, with Matter compatibility, Apple HomeKit integration is also now available too
Dreame X50 Ultra
Yes, it’s another robot vacuum cleaner (and fair warning, there are still two to come) but we couldn’t not include the latest Dreame flagship.
The Dreame X50 Ultra is the finished article of the ProLeap prototype we first saw in September, at IFA 2024.
The ProLeap system uses retractable robotic legs, allowing it to climb over obstacles up to 4.2cm, or over multi-level steps like patio doors up to 6cm; so if you’ve got a multi-level floor in your house then this could be just the answer.
Yes, there were other, similar systems on show in Vegas so Dreame doesn’t hold the monopoly in the floor climbing robo space any longer, but this high end Dreame also boats a wealth of cutting edge cleaning tech, as well as Matter compatibility.
Xgimi Ascend
Xgimi used CES 2025 to show of a cool new concept that could well be a vision of what our TV setups might look like in the near future.
Dubbed Xgimi Ascend, it’s part projector, part TV, part sound system and part virtual fireplace all thrown into one.
Essentially it’s an Xgimi Aura 2 ultra short-throw projector providing the visuals, with a motorized 100-inch Ambient Light Rejection (ALR) screen, and a couple of premium Harman Kardon soundbars thrown into the mix too.
The result is a super impressive home cinema solution that can also be used as an ambiance-enhancing display.
Reolink Duo WiFi
Reolink used CES 2025 to unveil the Duo 3 WiFi camera and also a new Altas Series.
The new Duo 3 WiFi looks identical to the Ethernet version that’s already available, and offers a 16MP UHD resolution and a panoramic 180° view, thanks to its dual 4K sensors and an advanced image-stitching algorithm.
Equipped with dual-band Wi-Fi 6, the Duo 3 WiFi supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies for smooth live streaming and faster data transfer.
Its Motion Track feature condenses motion events into a single 15-second image for quick review and everything can be stored locally on an SD card or direct to a Reolink Home Hub – so no need for an additional subscription plan.
TCL Smart Lock D1 Ultra
The third and final smart lock on our list may not have the UWB capabilities of Ultraloq, nor the retrofit features of SwitchBot but it is, according to its makers at least “the world’s first 4-in-1 smart lock.”
That 4-in-1 claim refers to the different functionality of the Smart Lock D1 Ultra.
Its name doesn’t really do it justice, because it’s not only a smart lock – it’s also a security camera, video doorbell and a digital display all in one.
The idea is that you slap it on your front door and it can carry out the tasks of multiple devices at the same time.
On the outward facing part you’ll find a touch panel with numbers for unlocking with a code, along with a fingerprint scanner, front facing 2K camera and a doorbell button.
On the inside is the unlocking bolt, along with a 3.5-inch display to show you what’s going on, on the other side.
Sylvox Cinema Pro 110-inch Helio QLED Outdoor TV
This stunning outdoor TV was definitely one of the standout displays at the whole show.
It’s absolutely incredible, with the Helio QLED technology delivering cinema-grade visuals in even in super bright environments.
With 5000 nits ultra-high brightness, it will provide clear visuals even in direct sunlight and there’s also Dolby Atmos on board for spatial sound too.
Sure, it costs $60,000 but let’s face it – if you’re buying an outdoor 110-inch TV, you’re probably not too worried about the price.
Narwal Flow
Narwal is fast becoming one of the biggest names in the robo cleaning world and the latest flagship really ramps that up.
It boats dual RGB cameras and an AI chip, and is capable of recognizing more than 200 different types of objects.
It can also step over 4cm platforms and features a track-driven mop pad that extends to reach the edge of walls, and uses dual water tanks to keep the mop clean as it goes.
Yarbo Smart Modular Robot
Yarbo used CES 2025 to show off the latest revamp of the amazing modular outdoor robot assistant.
Not only can it mow your lawn, it can also blow leaves, plough snow, tow loads and a whole lot more.
First revealed at last year’s show, Yarbo’s Core and modules have gone through major upgrades and feature enhancements designed to make outdoor chores effortless and even enjoyable, no matter the season.
The upgrade also includes a new “follow me” mode, which uses visual tracking technology to follow you wherever you go, ideal for covering large areas, and the new Yarbo Data Center, powered by Halow techn, delivers a more stable and wide-ranging connection.
Wacky? Yes. Expensive? Very. Awesome? You betcha.
Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra
Beatbot has been causing waves, quite literally, at CES 2025 with the launch of the World’s First AI-Powered 5-in-1 Robotic Pool Cleaner – the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra.
It boasts HybridSense AI Pool Mapping, combining an industry-first blend of AI camera, infrared, and ultrasonic sensors for complete pool coverage.
It’s not cheap, at $3,450 – but it is possibly the most comprehensive robot pool cleaner on show at CES.
There’s also the BeatBot AquaSense 2 Pro that was revealed at the show, which is cheaper at $2,499.
Eureka J15 Max
It was a bumper year for robo cleaner launches over in Las Vegas and it took something to set a new arrival apart from the competition.
With the Eureka J15 Max Ultra, that something is its proprietary IntelliView AI technology, which has the ability to detect and react to transparent liquids, meaning that when it sees a puddle, it commands the robot to automatically rotate its body, prioritizing mop cleaning, and lifting the roller brush to prevent liquid from entering the dustbin.
It’s also got a whopping 22,000Pa suction rating – only the Mova V50 Ultra has higher.
Speediance Velonix
Speediance, a Chinese smart fitness tech brand, too the covers off of two new devices for home workouts at CES 2025: the VeloNix Stationary Bike and the Gym Monster 2.
But it was the VeloNix Stationary Bike that really caught our eye at the show, boasting motor-controlled resistance, real-time tracking of metrics such as speed, power, and cadence, and AI-powered virtual coaching.
Wonder Petal Cam
The Wonder Petal is 4K, 12-megapixel, small biomorphic camera, designed to capture footage of nature in flower beds, using AI smarts to power its Nature Intelligence technology.
It comes in a range of colors and its design is meant to make it easy to blend into your plants or flowers.
The camera itself attaches to a flexible stem, so you can get it to point at whatever angle you want and there’s also a little solar panel, designed to mimic a leaf.
It comes with a universal clip so the idea is that you can hang it, mount it, or place it directly into the soil.
Segway Navimow X3
Robot lawnmowers were one of the most saturated categories at the show with a bunch of brands, both old and new, getting involved.
Segway’s latest flagship – the Navimow X3 – was definitely the best looking of the new bunch, with a slick integrated screen, with blue lights, providing immediate status updates.
It also boats an innovative 2-in-1 mower and trimmer solution for edge-to-edge coverage and an AI algorithm so as it won’t run into your pets; even lazy cats who refuse to move.
Hisense L9Q
The Hisense L9Q was undoubtably the most impressive laser TV on show in Vegas… in fact we had to double take upon our first glance to check it wasn’t actually a real TV.
It’s one of, if not the, brightest ultra short throw projectors at 5,000 lumens, and Hisense tells us that the L9Q can peak at 1,500 nits of peak brightness, when running with its ambient light rejecting (ALR) screen.
Hisense has also tweaked its TriChroma triple-laser light engine to increase its color space, making the colors appear much more richer.
