CES 2025: Tiny smart surveillance camera was a big hit in Vegas
Bird Buddy, the Michigan-based brand behind the popular range of smart security cameras housed in bird boxes, have used CES 2025 to show off its latest nature gadget: the Wonder Petal.
Wonder itself is actually a new brand from the company and the Petal, along with the Blocks nature base, are the first products from the range.
The Wonder Petal is essentially a small biomorphic camera, designed to capture footage of nature – think bugs, small animals and more – in flower beds and areas with plants.
The Wonder Petal comes in a range of colors and its design is meant to make it easy to blend into your plants or flowers.
The 4K, 12 megapixel camera itself attaches to a flexible stem, so you can get it to point at whatever angle you want and there’s also a little solar panel, designed to mimic a leaf.
It comes with a universal clip so the idea is that you can hang it, mount it, or place it directly into the soil.
You can also swap different lenses around for close-ups or wider angled footage.
We’re told that it uses Nature Intelligence technology, which its makers describe as, “An advanced AI layer that interprets the sights and sounds of nature, from birds hatching to the flapping of butterfly’s wings, a flower blooming and bees pollinating it.”
There’s no word on pricing as of yet but we’re told Wonder Petal will hit Kickstarter in Spring 2025.
