Eufy, the smart home brand from the big Anker umbrella, has taken the covers off of a couple of new smart locks, both of which boast a built-in video doorbell and one that features a touchscreen.
The FamiLock S3 and S3 Max are essentially the same device, with the Max adding a 4-inch display to the mix.
Both models feature a 2K video camera and Eufy tells us they are capable of palm vein recognition, which we have seen on a few recent smart lock launches, including the TCL D1 Pro, which went live at CES back in January.
Palm vein recognition tech uses near-infrared light to illuminate the palm, causing hemoglobin in the blood to absorb the light, creating a detailed, unique palm vein information.
Eufy tells us that this method of unlocking is not only super fast, but also boasts a 99.99999% accuracy rating for correct identification.
The FamiLock S3 Max also features a 2K camera with a 180-degree diagonal field of view and can detect people using Eufy’s motion detection and object recognition.
It also features two-way audio and can record video clips to an onboard 8GB storage or onto Eufy’s HomeBase 3 hub.
The lock aspect takes its design inspiration from the Eufy E30, with a touchscreen keypad and can be controlled via the Eufy Security app or paired with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, or Google Home directly, as there’s also Matter-over-WiFi compatibility, with Wi-Fi 6 on board too.
It has a 15,000mAh removable rechargeable lithium battery and can also use four AAA batteries for backup. It can hold up to 50 palm prints and 100 passcodes and is rated BHMA Grade 1 for durability.
Eufy promises between six and 12 months of battery life depending on usage.
The FamiLock S3 is essentially the same lock as the S3 Max, but without the screen.
Its camera has the same specs as the S3 Max, with a 150-degree vertical and 180-degree diagonal field of view and that 8GB of onboard storage.
The S3 is $349.99 and the S3 Max is $399.99, and they can be pre-ordered direct from Eufy now and there’s a $70 promotion currently available.
