Eve has announced the launch of the Eve Dimmer Switch, the newest addition to its ever growing lineup of Matter-compatible smart home devices.
The new Dimmer Switch is a Matter-over-Thread device that is designed to make controlling your lights easier and smarter.
It lets you adjust your lights to the perfect brightness with just a tap in an app, or through voice commands and features a hybrid touch button/rocker design, making it easy to use for everyone in the household.
Looking a lot like the existing Eve Light Switch, the new Dimmer Switch also supports single-pole and 3-way wiring, making it a viable choice for different setups.
Like its twin, it needs a neutral wire at the switch for constant power.
Matter-over-Thread means it can seamlessly integrate into the major smart home ecosystems, including Apple Home, Abode, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings, although you will need a Matter controller and a Thread border router, such as an Echo Hub, Apple TV or a smart home hub.
The good news is that mains-powered Thread devices that are always on, like the Eve Dimmer Switch, can also as router nodes within your Thread network, so it will help to make your setup more reliable.
Beyond its smart capabilities, the Eve Dimmer Switch is designed with privacy in mind. Like all Eve products, it can operate without relying on the cloud, ensuring that your data stays private and secure. There’s also no need for tracking or registration, which is a big plus for privacy-conscious users.
The Eve Dimmer Switch is will be available from 17 March and costs $49.95.
