Eve Energy and Power Strips light up at CES 2019

CES 2019: Official launch details for the latest additions to Eve's HomeKit range

First announced back in August, Eve (the artist formerly known as Elgato) has used CES 2019 officially announce the launch details of the Eve Light Strip and the Eve Energy Strip.

The former, pictured above, follows on from the Eve Flare lamp released last year, letting you light up your home with pre-installed scenes and colors. The 2m LED strip (which can be extended to a length of 10m) beams out white and colors at an output of 1800 lumens. Eve says it's the "brightest HomeKit-enabled LED strip to date" and, we'll be honest, it's not something we're gonna bother fact checking - let's just go with it.

Like lightstrips from the likes of Hue and Koogeek, it can be cut to size and comes with a peel-off adhesive strip on the back so you can easily attach it to skirting boards, behind furniture and the like.

As for the Eve Energy Strip, pictured below, this smart plug allows for control of up to three devices through a single outlet. And while any power socket design is unlikely to cause great excitement, it is pretty slick looking; coming in a black housing with an aluminium frame. It looks very Apple-esque indeed.

Device schedules for each outlet can be created and managed in the Eve app, too, as you might expect; or using Apple's Home platform. It also offers consumption and projected cost in the Eve app.

The Eve app is actually a much more comprehensive offering for your Apple HomeKit devices than Cupertino's native one (in our opinion, at least). If you're not familiar with Eve, it's a HomeKit-only brand and, therefore, works best if you've got a HomeKit hub setup (Apple TV and HomePod hubs offer the most functionality).

The Eve Light Strip will be available from the Eve Store and direct from Apple for $79.95 from next month. Extension strips will be $49.95. The Eve Energy Strip goes on sale a month later, priced up at $119.
