Continuous recording from battery-powered security cameras seems to be an emerging trend at the moment – the likes of Reolink and Eufy already have their own variations – and now Ezviz wants in on the action too.
The Chinese smart home specialist has just announced a new feature that it’s calling AOV (Always-On Video), which brings continuous, time-lapse-style recording to three of its outdoor cameras, without turning your charging routine into a second job.
The CB3 AOV, CB8 Lite, and CB90 Kit are the first in Ezviz’s lineup to get the AOV treatment.
AOV doesn’t actually mean 24/7 video footage though. Instead of staying fully alert like a wired camera might, the feature allows the battery-powered models to wake themselves up at regular intervals you can define, recording snippets of footage that stitch into a time-lapse.
You can fast-forward through calm periods, then instantly jump to real-time video whenever a person or car enters the frame, to get a better picture of what exactly went on.
Like so (the top one is without AOV, the one below shows how AOV tech works)…

The tech lives inside the camera’s chipset, which also lets it keep using Ezviz’s usual AI smarts to detect humans and vehicles. It also boosts detection range up to 25 meters, well beyond the reach of standard PIR sensors most other battery cams rely on.
Naturally, this kind of 24/7 coverage could wreak havoc on battery, but Ezviz has beefed up the power packs on offer.
The flagship CB90 sports a hefty 10,400mAh battery and comes bundled with an 8W solar panel, while the CB8 Lite includes a solar panel too.
Even with a few rainy days in the mix, Ezviz claims these setups can keep things running for up to 120 days straight, or longer with enough sunlight.
Feature-wise, there’s a fair bit of overlap between the three models: AI-powered shape detection, two-way talk, Alexa and Google Assistant support, siren and strobe deterrents, color night vision, and weatherproofing all come standard.
The main differences lie in design and resolution. The CB3 AOV shoots in 2K, the CB8 Lite and CB90 bump that up to 2K+, and the CB90 adds a dual-lens system with wide-angle and zoom views, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and up to 512GB of local storage.
