Fibaro has launched a HomeKit compatible version of The Button, its one-touch scene controller.

For those unaware of the One-Touch Scene Controller, it’s essentially a battery-powered wireless button, which can be placed anywhere in your home. It looks big and fun, and certainly boasts a bold design.

Previously available using Z-Wave technology, which requires the presence of a Z-Wave controller to be used as a smart home button, this new version works with Apple’s ecosystem.

The Button can recognise up to three actions, which can be set to control HomeKit scenes within your home. That can mean turning on multiple devices, and putting them into specific states. Scenes in Apple HomeKit are a little unusual as they only work one way – e.g. turning things on doesn’t mean that re-running the scene will turn those devices off again, so it’s good that the Fibaro button supports multiple scene use.

Aside from smart home control via scenes, Fibaro also packs a bunch of extra features via the app, such as the ability to send push notifications to a smartphone or hook up with IFTTT controls.

The usefulness is certainly ramped up with the addition of Apple HomeKit – as people jump on-board with Apple’s growing smart home ecosystem. Fibaro’s The Button HomeKit edition is available now in the US for $59.99 .
