After an unexpected stint on Indiegogo, Honeywell has put its home security system up for pre-order, with shipping set to commence in August.
First, a memory jog: Honeywell unveiled its all-in-one home security setup back at CES in January, combining an Alexa smart speaker, hub and security camera together in one convenient package. Then, curiously, it announced it was heading to Indiegogo to raise funds.
Well it's now available to pre-order in a couple of different bundles, depending on how many additional sensors you want to add on. The standard starter kit gets you the aforementioned goodies along with two window/door access sensors and a key fob - and runs for $449. That's a special pre-order price, as the suggested retail price is $568.99.
Or you can go "Super" for $599 (down from a very specific $808.94 RRP) which also bags you a T5 Lyric Wi-Fi smart thermostat and a water leak and freeze detector.
The Alexa base station functions as both a speaker and a 1080p security camera, with a 145-degree viewing angle and 24 hours of video storage in the cloud for free. You'll be able to buy more if you wish: 30 days for $4.99 a month or 60 days for $14.99 a month. And if you were one of the Indiegogo backers, you'll get a year of 30-day storage for free.
That means you're getting two cameras in the package, as the C1 is a different Honeywell indoor camera with its own nifty tricks, like being able to detect a carbon or smoke alarm going off and send you a notification on your phone, should you be out of the house.
Honeywell says its security system will also be "broadly" available in retail stores across the US and Canada when it ships this August.
