Husqvarna has two new robot lawnmowers in the Automower 405XE NERA and Automower 305E NERA, plus improvements for older models and exciting times ahead
Husqvarna is celebrating 30 years since it introduced the first robot lawnmower, and with that birthday comes the launch of a couple of new models for its 2025 line up, as well as a look at the company’s road map for the next couple of years.
The two new robot lawnmowers include the Automower 405XE NERA and the Automower 305E NERA, with both expanding the company’s boundary wire free portfolio. They also both feature the EdgeCut technology that allows for precise edge trimming thanks to an additional rear cutting disc.
The Automower 405XE NERA and Automower 305E NERA can both cover 600m2 with irregular mowing, or 900m2 with systematic mowing – the latter of which is coming as an update to other NERA robotic mowers too. It allows you to create a lawn with a patterned design, like football pitch stripes for example, and Husqvarna says it can increase cutting area capacity by 50%.

The two new Automowers can handle slopes up to 30%, offer cutting heights between 20mm and 55mm and they both have electric cutting height adjustment. They both connect to the Automower app for control via a smartphone or tablet, both have an IPX5 rating so you can wash them with a hose, and they both offer the option of virtual or wire boundaries, or both.
The only difference between the Automower 405XE NERA and the Automower 305E NERA is the former offers object avoidance using radar, while the latter doesn’t have any object avoidance technology. Speaking of object avoidance however, Husqvarna also announced during its 30th birthday party event that it would be introducing a camera on its robotic lawnmower models coming out in 2026.

The camera is being trained using AI, along with human input, and it will be able to detect various different objects, as well as pets, animals and people. The Ambient saw a live demonstration of this at one of Husqvarna’s bases in Jönköping, Sweden, and it’s something we’ll be thrilled to see added to these robots.
Last, but most certainly not least on the residential announcements from Husqvarna was the introduction of Husqvarna Cloud that will allow for an improved installation on its GPS models. An external reference station will no longer be necessary to get wire-free mowing, with Husqvarna Cloud delivering a new satellite solution that means all you’ll need for the compatible models is a discreet plug-in for accurate navigation on the lawn using virtual boundaries.
Husqvarna hasn’t detailed pricing on the new Automower models, or which models will be compatible with the Husqvarna Cloud system, but we know the Automower 405XE NERA and the Automower 305E NERA will launch in March so it’s not too much longer to wait.
