CES 2025: Smart security specialist has a focus on senior care
Kami Vision wants to bring its AI smarts to more households with the Kami Fall Detect Camera, which has been on show over in Las Vegas at CES 2025.
The Kami Fall Detect Camera is a home security camera that doubles as a fall detection system for seniors, and those with mobility issues.
Borrowing tech from the company’s patented Vision AI tech, which is already used by senior living and care communities across the US, this compact smart cam promises 99.5% accuracy in spotting falls, and can even alert family members or call emergency services if no one responds.
There’s a direct link to 911 via RapidSOS, if there is no response to a fall.
Unlike wearable fall detectors which only work if the subject remembers to put them on, the Kami camera works quietly in the background, capturing a wide view of the room (87 degree frame of view and 360 degree rotation) and flagging any incidents through its companion Kami Home app.
It’s a 4-megapixel camera that boasts features Vision AI motion tracking and IR night vision, and it can keep users connected with features like two-way audio, real-time alerts, and professional monitoring.
The app allows loved ones to check in with live video or replay clips of what happened before and after a fall, giving crucial context to caregivers.
At $99.99, plus a $45 monthly subscription, Kami Vision aims to make this level of monitoring more accessible. Set-up is straightforward, and the device works on a standard power supply with the option to wall-mount or place on furniture.
With plans to launch a wearable smart ring next year, Kami Vision is clearly leaning into the intersection of AI and safety tech. For families looking to help seniors live independently while staying connected, this camera could be a great option
The Kami Fall Detect Camera will be available in early 2025 via Kami Vision’s website.
