Signify has taken the covers off of a new way of controlling your lights…and of course it’s AI. It’s always AI now, isn’t it?
The Philips Hue generative AI assistant will be hitting the Hue app later this year, and will allow users to create personalized lighting scenes based on mood, occasion, or style.
You will be able to talk to the AI assistant with your voice, or type commands; as you can currently do with the likes off Govee and Nanoleaf.
So you’ll be able to say things like “mood lighting for a dinner party” or “tropical lights for a beach party theme” and the AI assistant will take care of the colors, saturation, brightness, effects and the like.
You will also be able to say more basic things like “it’s too bright in here” to make adjustments.
It’s not just the AI news coming out of Signify; the smart light specialist also revealed that the Philips Hue Sync TV app now supports LG TVs on webOS24 or newer.
Previously available solely on Samsung TVs it means that your TV’s native streaming apps, such as Disney+ and Netflix. It also supports all image formats including 8K, 4K and HDR 10+.
As when using a Philips Hue Sync Box, you will of course need some Hue lights to create the effects.
It works with a range of Hue bulbs – you configure the layout in the Hue app – but the best experience (in my opinion) is when you throw a Hue Gradient Lightstrip into the mix.
It’s not free though, it costs $3.99 / £2.69 monthly or you can pay $129.99 / £114.99 to get access to it forever.
