CES 2025: My favorite smart security camera brand is beefing up its range
Reolink, the brand I ditched all my Nest cams for, has used CES 2025 to unveil the Duo 3 WiFi camera and also a new Altas Series.
The new Duo 3 WiFi looks identical to the PoE version that’s already available, and offers a 16MP UHD resolution and a panoramic 180° view, thanks to its dual 4K sensors and an advanced image-stitching algorithm.
This design eliminates blind spots and captures intricate details, making it ideal for monitoring large areas like driveways, parking lots, and backyards.
Equipped with dual-band Wi-Fi 6, the Duo 3 WiFi supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies for smooth live streaming and faster data transfer.
Its Motion Track feature condenses motion events into a single 15-second image for quick review.
Reolink cameras, in case you didn’t know, come with local storage options via a microSD card and that’s the case with the new arrival.
This not only eliminates the need for monthly fees but also allows you to save recordings without relying on cloud storage.
Reolink does actually offer cloud plans for those who want them, but crucially, it doesn’t lock essential features behind a paywall.
Available now in North America and Europe, the Duo 3 WiFi is priced at $179.99, and can be purchased through Reolink’s website or via Amazon.
I’ve actually got the Duo 3 WiFi set up and I’m testing it ahead of a review that will be published soon, so stay tuned for that.
Reolink Altas Series: Continuous recording

Reolink’s other big CES announcement was the new Altas Series, adding to the Reolink Altas PT Ultra that went live last year.
These battery-powered cameras offer 24/7 continuous recording on a single charge for a week. That battery life extends to around 2 years if you opt for motion-triggered recording,
Key to this breakthrough is the series’ whopping 20,000mAh battery packs, which can also be extendable indefinitely when paired with Reolink’s solar panels.
The new lineup includes the Altas Go PT, a 4G-connected camera with a 360° blindspot-free view; the 2K Altas, a bullet-style Wi-Fi camera; and an upgraded Altas PT Ultra, now featuring a more power-efficient chipset.
Enhanced by Reolink’s ColorX technology, the Altas cams promise vibrant, full-color footage both day and night, utilizing a large F1.0 aperture and a 1/1.8” sensor that captures four times more light than traditional infrared cameras.
The cameras also feature 10-second prerecording capabilities, ensuring crucial moments are never missed, and two-way audio for real-time communication.
As always, videos can be stored locally on SD cards (up to 512GB) or transferred to Reolink’s Home Hub solutions for centralized storage, even if the internet goes down.
They are due to arrive in the coming months with prices still TBC.
