Ring has taken the covers off of its latest smart security camera, the Outdoor Camera Plus.
The Amazon-owned doorbell specialist tells us that it’s the best video quality from a Ring Cam yet, with a 2K resolution and a wide field of view.
It’s actually the first Ring camera to actually launch with 2K on board, although the Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro and the Ring Spotlight Cam Pro – both of which originally launched with a Full HD (1080p) resolution – are now capable of recording in 2K resolution, thanks to an update that rolled out last month.
Back to the main event though, and the new Outdoor Camera Plus also introduces Low-Light Sight, a feature designed to enhance clarity and color even in near-dark conditions, making it easier to capture important details at night.
Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, and boasting dual-band 2.4 and 5GHz Wi-Fi, the Outdoor Camera Plus is built to withstand the elements, with a weather-resistant design and an easy-to-install mount for walls or ceilings.

Ring is offering multiple power options, including battery, plug-in, and solar, which gives you plenty of flexibility when it comes to your own specific setup.
As you’d expect, the camera integrates with Alexa, allowing users to view live feeds and communicate through Two-Way Talk on Echo smart speakers.
Real-time notifications and customizable Motion Zones can also be setup to help keep you informed about activity around your home.
However, as is always the way, some of the more advanced feature, such as person and vehicle detection, as well as 24/7 recording, require a Ring Home subscription.
Without a plan, you can still get access to live view, real-time alerts, and basic recording functions.
The Outdoor Camera Plus features adjustable privacy settings and customizable privacy zones, allowing users to block out areas they don’t want to monitor. As with all Ring cameras, a blue indicator light is illuminated when recording to ensure transparency.
The Ring Outdoor Camera Plus comes in black or white, and is available for pre-order now on Amazon for $99.99 / £99.99, with shipping set to begin in the coming weeks.
