CES 2025: Next-gen multi-protocol tech launched alongside new X2 touchscreen controller
Shelly has used CES 2025 to announced that it is stepping up its game in the smart home world, with the debut of its Gen4 Series; a new collection of devices that could be a nifty solution for anyone looking to build or upgrade their home automation setup.
The Bulgarian brand’s reputation for affordability and cross-platform compatibility is already well established for smart home enthusiasts, and the new range takes things to a new level, with improved multi-protocol support.
Whether you want to use Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, or Matter, the Shelly Gen4 devices are designed to fit seamlessly into any existing smart home ecosystem.
The updated Shelly devices mean that users can switch between protocols on the fly, meaning they can use a devices in whatever way works best for their home, all while ensuring secure and seamless connectivity.
The new range covers a wide area of connected devices with relays, sensors, and plug-and-play modules helping you automate power, lighting, heating, security, energy management and more.
The Gen4 products, as with a lot of the Shelly range, also plays nicely with major platforms like Google Home and Alexa and, with Matter compatibility, Apple HomeKit integration is also available too.
Among the highlights of the new line-up is the Shelly Plug US Gen4, an upgrade to Shelly’s popular smart plug.
The new version offers users control over lights and 120V appliances, up to 1800W, with energy management features built-in.
Another addition is the Shelly Flood Sensor Gen4, a wireless water leak sensor that sends real-time alerts when water is detected, helping prevent damage from leaks and floods.
Alongside the new Gen4 tech, and taking on the likes of the Amazon Echo Hub new Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus, is the slick looking Shelly Wall Display X2.
The X2 is a 6.95-inch touchscreen control panel that fits standard electrical wall boxes and boasts integrated sensors for temperature, humidity, and light.
It also includes advanced automation capabilities like scene creation, relay functionality, and power monitoring.
It’s been a busy few weeks for the Sofia-based brand. Last month it took the covers off of a new line-up of Z-Wave Long Range gadgets, with that news coming hot on the heels of launching a bunch of new SmartThings compatible Z-Wave devices.
The new Gen4 tech, and the X2 display will all go on sale later this year.
