It's not just Amazon Music Unlimited now for your 360 tunes
If you had your eye on the newly announced Sonos Era 300 but were put off because you’d have to get an Amazon Music subscription to get involved with the spatial audio action, we’ve got some good news… Apple Music through Sonos will offer up spatial audio from 28 March.
That, probably not coincidentally at all, is also the date that pre-orders of the Sonos Era 300 are set to start shipping – so you could be getting your 360-degree audio hit the first time you set up your new Era smart speaker.
Previously, the only way to experience spatial audio on your Sonos system was by using an Amazon Music Unlimited plan.
It’s not just Sonos’ newest speaker that is getting in on the spatial audio action; Sonos’ flagship soundbar, the Sonos Arc, and the 2nd-gen Sonos Beam also have a ticket to the Dolby Atmos, too.
Obviously, these smart soundbars had Dolby Atmos smarts built-in with movies in mind, but they are more than capable of playing back spatial audio tracks with great effect, as well, as we’ve already experienced using Amazon’s music streaming service.
Using the Sonos S2 app, you’re able to choose exactly what music streaming services you want to use – and it’s also super simple to set Apple Music as your Sonos system’s default provider.
If you’re currently using Spotify for your Sonos system – and you’ve got a Sonos Arc or Beam 2 or you’re planning on purchasing and Era 300 – then you may want to consider switching to Amazon or Apple’s setup.
