It will also do more useful stuff too…
Australian smart security specialist Swann has just taken the covers off of an industry first.
SwannShield is an AI-powered Voice Assistant designed to work with its SwannBuddy4K Video Doorbell, allowing homeowners to interact with visitors or intruders using AI-generated, natural-sounding responses – taking home security to the next level.
There are plenty of smart video doorbells out there already that let you choose voice responses when someone comes calling, or even let you record pre-set messages to play when the buzzer is pressed, but this is the first time there’s an actual AI bot on board to be your virtual gatekeeper.
SwannShield uses adaptive AI to manage real-time interactions, providing intelligent responses that react dynamically based on the situation at hand – think telling a delivery person to leave a parcel in a particular place or with a certain neighbour, but after it has asked the caller where they are from exactly first.
Or, have it ask what someone wants and telling them to sling their hook if it’s from an organisation you wouldn’t want to open your door too.
Swann tells us that SwannShield uses natural, human-like interactions to have conversations, with the AI featuring a British accent.
Available as a free update in the Swann Security app, SwannShield can be customized to suit a user’s preferences.
You can configure the assistant to activate during specific times and set the tone of its responses, whether friendly, disinterested or aggressive – depending on how you want to handle different visitors.
I love the idea of it telling unwanted cold callers to go away in a snarky British accent.
The Swann app allows users to review conversation transcripts for added peace of mind and to monitor any potential security issues.
Currently compatible with the SwannBuddy4K, the Voice Assistant is expected to roll out to other Swann devices soon.
In theory, and it doesn’t go rogue, it’s a great idea and one that’s certain to be part of the next wave of smart video doorbell devices.
