SwitchBot, of Bot finger and auto curtain opening fame, look all set to reveal its next-gen smart home hub.
HomeKit News uncovered a listing from the Connectivity Standards Alliance of the as-yet-unannounced SwitchBot Hub 3, which looks quite a lot different to its predecessors.
Packing a black gloss finish and a twirly knob, the form factor is quite the departure from SwitchBot’s previous gateways, such as the Hub 2 and Hub Mini.
The biggest new addition is undoubtedly that knob, positioned front and center.
According to the CSA listing, the Hub 3’s can operate both “Media Volume Control” and “Air Conditioner Control” and is compatible with Apple TV, Spotify, and other streaming platforms.
There are a few other buttons too; a home button, a back button, an on/off toggle and button with the SwitchBot S logo on it that, presumably, will be a shortcut for controlling a preset automation.
The display up top looks to display temperature and humidity metrics, and the listing tells us this aspect integrates third-party weather forecasts.
We’re also informed that the display can provide “real-time status updates for door locks to ensure constant awareness of security and reminders.”
The listing also mentions “4 editable quick-scene buttons on the home page for one-touch activation of customized modes.”
On the image, these look to be used for home/away and night/day mode.
Obviously, with this appearing to the CSA’s website, its Matter certified and, I’d expect, will act as per SwitchBot’s other Matter compatible hubs, as a bridge for its non-Matter devices.
There’s no word on pricing or a launch date yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
It’s been a busy few months for SwitchBot. The smart home specialist took the covers off of a barrage of new tech over in Vegas at CES 2025, including the bonkers K20+ Pro modular robot, and recently unveiled an air purifier that doubles up as a bedside table.
Earlier this month, the brand’s adjustable smart blinds were also launched.
