Victrola’s line of Stream turntables – which already feature Sonos smarts – are getting a big boost thanks to a software update.
The Stream turntables, which have Sonos integration built-in, will now be able to pair with and stream to any Bluetooth audio device, such as speakers, headphones and even smart speakers like Amazon Echo.
The update also means users can use Wi-Fi to stream to any UPnP-compatible network music streamer, endpoint or integrated amp, such as those offered by the Sonos alternative Wiim.
The flagship of the Stream collection – the $1,300 Stream Sapphire – is also Roon compatible and can stream via AirPlay and Google Cast to compatible devices.
The good news for anyone who has already bought a Stream turntable is that this isn’t a hardware exclusive update; the new features will be available for all Stream models (Stream Carbon, Stream Onyx, Stream Pearl and Stream Sapphire) via an over-the-air software update that is now rolling out.
The Stream line of turntables were the first record players to be certified by Sonos, allowing vinyl lovers to stream their favorite records directly to their Sonos speakers over Wi-Fi, without needing to chuck a Sonos Amp, Port or Connect into the mix.
