New feature launched as part of Cam Unlimited Pro plan
Wyze, maker of cheap smart security cameras, now have a premium plan that costs more than its actual cameras… but there is a nifty new feature on board to make us sit up and take notice.
The new Descriptive Alerts service offers up AI notifications “that accurately summarize motion events that take place in front of a Wyze Cam.”
Wyze tells us this means you’ll get text notifications that provide important details and contextual information.
Ring, Nest and Aqara already have a service similar to this but, looking at the examples given in the intro video, it’s far more in-depth than anything we’ve seen before, including detailed descriptions of types of people, animals, colors, vehicles, objects and even types of food from a delivery guy.
The new Wyze Cam Unlimited Plan, unlike the brand’s cameras, certainly isn’t cheap at $19.99 monthly / $199.99 yearly but, as well as the new Wyze Intelligence Descriptive Alerts, also includes an AI Video Search tool and will soon provide 60 days of cloud storage, which is launching in the Spring.
Wyze has a plethora of cheap smart security cameras on sale (as well as other smart home tech), the most recent of which is the Wyze Cam v4 that went live in March last year.
Taking a lot of the features from the Wyze 3rd-gen security camera, and also the likes of the Wyze Cam Plus and the Battery Cam Pro, it added Wi-Fi 6 to the mix but still kept the price under $36.
However, be warned that Wyze have suffered from a couple of high profile security blunders in the recent past, although we’re assured all is fine now.
