Sold Secure Diamond standard plays nicely with all the major ecosystems
Brisant-Secure has announced its Ultion Nuki smart lock will be available to pre-order from July 6, following a teaser of its features back in May.
The Ultion Nuki is the result of a collaboration between British lock maker Ultion and Austrian smart lock system designer Nuki.
It effectively combines a Nuki Smart Lock 3.0, which can be retrofitted onto traditional doors, with a high-quality Ultion door lock and internal handle.

And the white housing is arguably better looking than either the Ultion Smart from 2020, or a Nuki Smart Lock 3.0 hanging off a non-smart fixture.
All the smart stuff is mounted on the inside of the door, leaving no obvious clues it is a smart lock to those on the outside.
The Ultion Nuki runs off four AA batteries. While we haven’t been given any battery life estimates yet, they are likely to last the same “several months” Nuki claims for the Smart Lock 3.0. A 2500mAh rechargeable battery pack is also available.
It can connect with all of the major smart home ecosystems including Ring, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple HomeKit, IFTTT and AirBnB — as well as the Nuki app — using Bluetooth 5.0.
The Ultion Nuki doesn’t have Wi-Fi, unlike the Nuki 3.0 Pro, so if you want to be able to operate it from virtually anywhere you’ll need a £89 Nuki Wi-Fi Bridge.
However, this makes sense when the Wi-Fi-equipped Nuki 3.0 Pro costs £235 and does not include a cylinder or handle. A Ultion Nuki offers the complete package for £239.
The lock itself is rated to Ultion’s 3-Star Plus standard. This means it meets the requirements of a classic 3-star lock, as well as the Sold Secure Diamond standard, 1,000,000-plus durability test cycles, and has a “lockdown” mode.
When an attack is detected, a firing pin is set off to stop the door being opened. It also comes with a £2,000 security guarantee.
If a burglary happens within five years, and they got in by snapping an Ultion lock, you get £2,000. It’s not a replacement for home insurance, but shows Ultion has confidence in its locks.
The Ultion Nuki also supports the accessories available for other Nuki systems. There’s a £39 fob and a £69 Keypad, both of which use Bluetooth.
This smart lock is designed to be easy to fit. Ultion claims you can be done in five minutes and won’t need to do any drilling, while the battery-powered style avoids wiring headaches. However, a pro will come around and do the job for you, for £95.
The Ultion Nuki will be available to pre-order direct from Amazon and Ultion from 6 July for £239.
