Abode Systems has launched a new smart lock with some great features.
Abode Systems has announced a new smart lock called the Abode Lock, which can be retrofitted to any door so there’s no need to ruin the aesthetic of your home.
The Abode Lock is installed to the inside of your door and the company has said it can transform any latch-style dead-bolt into a smart lock, enabling you to unlock your home with the Bluetooth-connected keyboard or the Abode app.
Abode has said the new Wi-Fi enabled smart lock is compatible with all standard deadbolts for easy installation, integrating with the existing deadbolt on your door so the exterior of your door remains unchanged. It means that your keys don’t need to be replaced and the door looks identical from the outside of your home.
The Abode Lock pairs to the Adobe app via Bluetooth, offering any updates over-the-air when connected to a Wi-Fi network, while Bluetooth is also the technology of choice for the connection to the accompanying keypad too. The keyboard allows for access to your home via a PIN code or fingerprint recognition, but as mentioned, you can also use the Adobe app to unlock and lock the door.
Up to 10 users are supported on the keyboard, with it able to register up to 50 unique fingerprints, and up to 10 unique PIN codes, while the lock itself has a 4,000mAh built-in rechargeable battery that is claimed to offer around 12 months of average use.
If you have guests visiting you home – a cleaner or gardener for example – the Abode Lock has a couple of features for safeguarding your home, whilst granting access to those that need it. You can choose to set a one-time PIN code that will expire once used, or you can opt for a scheduled PIN code that will only be active during certain times.
The Abode Lock can be used as a standalone product or incorporated into a larger Abode system. When used as a standalone product, the Abode app offers the remote locking as mentioned, along with enabling features like auto-lock that will lock the door after a certain length of time has passed.
For those using the Abode Lock as part of a larger Abode smart security system, and who sign up to an Apode plan, you will get access to extra features like scheduling and geolocation capabilities, locking or unlocking the door based on your location.
