Smart video doorbell and smart lock in one nifty package
Eufy has killed two smart security birds with one stone with the announcement of the Eufy Security Video Smart Lock.
Double bubble: Eufy Video Doorbell Dual review
As you may have guessed from the name, the Eufy Security Video Smart Lock is a video doorbell and a smart lock in one package.
It looks like a mashup of the existing Eufy Video Doorbell 2K and the Eufy Smart Lock Touch & WiFi, and the spec sheet borrows from both of those devices.
It boasts rapid fingerprint recognition (0.3 seconds), a 2K camera with night vision, remote auto-locking and a security pin keypad.
As with all Eufy smart security products, there’s no monthly fees involved. You don’t have to pay for cloud storage of your videos as you do with the likes of Nest or Ring, because it’s all stored locally on Eufy’s HomeBase.
Eufy is launching the Security Video Smart Lock on Kickstarter, the crowdfunding platform where it has achieved success in the past with the likes of the SmartDrop package box and the original EufyCam.
If you want to get involved, the super early bird special is live now for $199. When that offer is sold out, it’ll be $229 for the regular early bird price and finally the regular Kickstarter price will be $269.
When you consider that the Video Doorbell 2K normally retails at $179 and the Smart Lock Touch at $249, then it looks a pretty good package.
Shipping is estimated for later in 2022 and it will be $399 when it goes on wider release.
