CES 2022: Thomas Edison's boys are back in the house
GE Lighting’s smart home platform Cync is going big at CES 2022 with a new Smart Thermostat, Temperature Sensor, new Outdoor Security Cameras and an array of new smart lighting products.
It was this time last year, at CES 2021, that we learned C by GE was no more. Cync is the new name for the smart home brand that was born out of General Electric but is now part of the Savant Systems family.
Fast forward a year and the new portfolio of Cync products is headlined by a Cync Smart Thermostat (main image, above), which will cost $119.99.
Top picks: The best smart thermostats and heating systems
It’s notable because it can be installed without a common wire, avoiding some of the compatibility issues experienced by homeowners when attempting to smarten up their temp control.
It promises a “large, sleek and high-contrast display” for in-home control, while there’s also no need for a hub to control the temperature when you leave the house.
It connects directly to the Cync app, even when you’re not on the same Wi-Fi network. It can also be paired to the new temperature sensors (above) to monitor individual rooms.
They’re also available now too, for $29.99 each.
Beyond that, Cync is adding more outdoor smart security camera options to its repertoire.
You can now grab the Cync Outdoor Smart Camera in wired and battery/solar powered options, giving users a little more flexibility.
The product promises 2K/1280p HD video which can be stored locally (with a microSD card), while there’s also night vision capabilities and a digital swivel head.
Those new models are coming next month.
The Wired Camera is $99.99, the Battery Camera is $129.99 and the Solar Panel accessory is $44.99.
As well as syncing with the Cync app, all the devices work with both Alexa and the Google Assistant.
