Husqvarna's latest robot lawn mowers take grass cutting to the next level
It’s a good week for robot lawnmowers after Husqvarna announced two new models, neither of which require boundary wires resulting in significantly easier setup and operation.
The company, which was responsible for the first robotic lawnmower, has introduced the Automower 410X Nera and Automower 310E Nera, both of which support Husqvarna’s EPOS satellite navigation system, enabling you to create virtual boundaries with your phone.
Husqvarna’s robot lawnmower portfolio is already significant with several models to choose from – including the excellent Automower 450X – but while wire free models existed in the line up, they were targeted at professionals rather than us mere mortals with sub 1000m2 gardens.
The two new models are fantastic news for the Automower range however, as while the wire options are excellent performers, not having to set a wire perimeter significantly reduces the time it takes to set one of these handy devices up.
The EPOS – Exact Positioning Operating System – satellite navigation system will allow you to create the boundary to within 3cm, using the Automower Connect app to draw the virtual boundary of your garden. Through the app, you can also create different zones and areas, such as flower beds or trees so the Automower doesn’t plough through your daisies.
Alongside the EPOS system, the new Automower 410X Nera and Automower 310E Nera feature Husqvarna’s EdgeCut technology, which offers better precision for cutting the edges of the lawn thanks to additional, smaller, cutting disc. The slightly more advanced Automower 410X Nera also comes with radar technology, allowing it to recognise objects, like children’s or pet toys.
Both the Automower 410X Nera and Automower 310E Nera can handle slopes up to 30 per cent and lawns up to 1000m2. They have a cutting height between 20mm and 55mm and edge cutting down to 1cm.
The Husqvarna Automower 410X Nera will cost £2399 and the Automower 310E Nera costs £1999.
