Xiaomi's latest smart home tech unveiled
If the enforced closure of cinemas over much of the last 18 months has made you reconsider how much you’re really willing to spend on popcorn and pick-and-mix in order to sit in a room with strangers kicking the back of your chair, it’s possible you’ve considered a home projector.
And if you’re reading this, you’ve probably also considered how to integrate it into your smart home set-up. In which case, Xiaomi has just announced the perfect product for you.
The Mi Smart Projector 2 is part of Xiaomi’s new “AIoT” (that’s Artificial Intelligence of Things) range.
It’s a plug and play device that gives you 1920 x 1080, Full HD, resolution and Dolby Audio from its built in speakers, plus it features multi-angle auto-keystone correction and auto-focusing to give you a great picture on almost any flat wall.
And from a smart angle, it also runs Android TV with a built-in Google Assistant, giving you instant voice control. “Hey Google… play the Pearl & Dean theme.”
If it’s your smart home network that needs an upgrade, then Xiaomi’s newly announced Mesh System AX3000 (2-pack) might help to keep all your devices connected.
This home Wi-Fi mesh system offers Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 network coverage of up to 4,000sq ft, and supports up to 256 devices.
If you’re fed up with connections dropping out as you move around your home you’ll appreciate the system’s automatic network switching, and Xiaomi also says a self-repairing process will reorganize the network if a device is detected offline, helping keep you connected at all times.
The Mi Smart Projector 2 starts at €599, and the Xiaomi Mesh System AX3000 (2-Pack) starts from €149… US and UK prices are still to be confirmed.
