G'day! Here's what Australian, Indian, British and German Alexa sound like
Amazon’s Alexa is now getting released in more and more territories, and the number of accents and languages is growing, too.
If you’re fully used to the accent of Alexa on your Amazon Echo, Echo Show or even the Echo Dot, it might surprise you that your smart speaker is capable of a number of dialects and accents. Aside from localisations for US, UK and Germany – the key territories – it now has Australian and even Indian English.
Of course, these localisations aren’t just about accent. Indian Alexa, for example, knows that Independence Day is 15 August, while US Alexa is fully aware that the same holiday is 4 July.
Anyway, we’ve recorded all of Alexa’s languages and accents, just so you can hear the differences. And if you want to play around with more of the localisations, you can switch her language in the Alexa app. Just head to Settings > Devices > Echo & Alexa and choose the speaker you want to change Alexa’s accent on.
Then, simply tap the settings cog in the top right corner and scroll down to Language. From there, you can choose from the list.
