Automating your home heating just got a little easier
Aqara has announced the Radiator Thermostat E1 – a smart accessory for hydronic radiators that aims to make home heating more efficient.
As with the rest of Aqara’s lineup, the device is based on the Zigbee 3.0 protocol, which means – working with an Aqara smart home hub – it should play nicely with upcoming standard Matter (once it launches), as well as HomeKit, Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT.

It’s also compatible with most radiators, thanks to its M30 x 1.5mm thread connection and the included adapters for RA, RAV and RAVL valves.
Interestingly, unlike smart radiator valves that rely on an internal sensor on the device to help regulate room temperature, the Radiator Thermostat E1 is able to tap into readings from a connected Aqara temperature sensor and regulate based off these measurements.
The integration doesn’t stop there, either, with the valve also able to automatically shut itself off when connected with an Aqara Door and Window sensor that’s been left open. This, the company indicates, should help users reduce energy waste in their home.
Alongside, there are also the typical standard automations you would expect. So, you’ll be able to set up your own smart schedule with pre-set temperatures for different times of day, with geofencing also allowing the radiators to begin firing when you’re within a certain proximity.
It’s available now for £54.99 / €59.99 on Amazon, though we currently don’t have details regarding the US release for the product.
