Water sensors and Wi-Fi cameras headline new mydlink range
With an emphasis on protection, home and family, D-Link launched a range of new smart home solutions at the virtual CES 2021.
Top of the list is the DCS-8635LH, a 2K QHD Pan & Zoom Outdoor Wi-Fi camera designed to provide detailed surveillance around the exterior of your home.
It’s IP65 rated so has protection against normal outdoor levels of dust, dirt and water, and has a panning feature to give 360-degree coverage.

It’s also packed with smart features including AI-based person detection, vehicle detection, auto-person tracking, glass break detection and a speaker siren, all helping to keep your home safe and secure from intruders.
The network camera can be set up wirelessly via Bluetooth, and is compliant with the ONVIF video surveillance standard so it should be simple to set up recording and streaming.
You can control it from anywhere via the mydlink app, and it also works with Alexa and Google Assistant for the full secure smart home experience.
For indoor monitoring, there’s also a new Full HD Wi-Fi camera (DCS-8300LHV2) which gives 1080p video resolution at 30fps and 120-degree field of view, plus infrared vision to catch any night-time intruders.
Like the outdoor camera it comes with AI-based person detection, plus enhanced sound and motion detection and two-way audio, and it’s compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa.
Also breaking cover at the virtual text expo is D-Link’s Whole Home Smart Wi-Fi Water Sensor Kit, which can detect water leaks from heavy rain or plumbing failures and alert you so you can deal with the problem before too much damage is caused.
The kit consists of a central hub and sensor plus a battery powered sensor and features a siren, strobe light and app notifications when leaks are found.
Prices and availability are yet to be confirmed for all of the above.
