Jeopardy, Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Trivia Crack amongst new games
Google has announced a handful of interactive games to get involved with on your Smart Displays.
“Hey Google, let’s play a game” kick starts the action, with titles such as Guess the Drawing, Jeopardy (hosted by Alex Trebek) and Who Wants to be a Millionaire on offer.
Like the visual skill games Alexa users get with their Echo shows, the trivia based games are voice based but use the smart speaker’s display to add to the gameplay; think clues, multiple choice answers and the like – while at the same time adding touchscreen controls to the mix as well.
You may have already played some of these games on your Google Assistant smart speaker but this is the first time that the search giant has made a big deal of the new visual elements. And it’s saying there’s a lot more coming down the pipeline.

“We’re continuing to work directly with top game developers to to bring even more immersive games to your smart display. Stay tuned for the lineup of new titles we’ll be introducing throughout the year,” read a statement on a Google blog post announcing the new games.
Smart speakers with displays have become a popular new command center for the connected house.
Amazon kicked off the race with its Echo Show back in 2017, and Google first followed suit but with a different strategy: third-party manufacturers would build many of what Google itself calls “Smart Displays” – and Google would provide the software.
It’s the same approach Google takes with its Android phones, and in a similar vain Google has also built a couple of its own Smart Displays: the Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max.
