Bright light for brushing those pearly whites
Philips Hue smart lighting is coming to the bathroom in a big way. A whole series of new products, under the Philips Hue Adore brand, have popped up on the Hue site in Europe and we’re expecting an official launch at the tech show IFA in Berlin at the end of August.
The most exciting new Hue device to adorn (yes) your bathroom wall is the Adore White lighted mirror. The standalone smart mirror has a built-in ring of white LEDs with dimmer switch compatibility and when you connect it to a Hue bridge, it can be controlled via Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit voice controls.

IP44 water and dust resistance means that it can withstand splashing water – this is a bathroom mirror after all – and Philips is talking up its abilities as a make-up mirror and also the energising and relaxing qualities of cooler and warmer hues of white light for morning and evening routines.
It wires into the wall as one unit and its dimensions are 56 x 56 cm, 5.1 cm thick and weights 5.4kg. The Hue Adore White mirror is due to go on sale for £229 in Europe from August according to Pocket-lint – no word on US price or availability yet.
Also in the new Hue Adore bathroom lighting range, according to the Hue site: the Adore Bathroom spot light, the Adore Bathroom mirror light and the Adore Bathroom ceiling light. All are currently listed as ‘out of stock’ with no prices.
As with the mirror, each of these works with both a physical switch and voice assistants (via a Hue Bridge), they’re IP44 water resistant and do white light only (no colours) for now. Each Hue Adore light fitting will come in a chrome metal finish.
According to CNET, the Philips Hue Outdoor range is also set to get a new addition at IFA in the form of Hue Outdoor Lightstrips which leaked last week – very nice. We’ll be at the show next month to try out all this fresh smart lighting out for ourselves.
