More affordable options are landing soon
Blink is filling out its range of affordable smart cameras, with the Amazon brand unveiling the Mini Pan-Tilt and the Wired Floodlight Camera.
Announced as part of Amazon’s annual hardware event, the wired, outdoor-ready model will cost $99.99, while the indoor device comes with just a $29.99 asking price.
Verdict: Blink Video Doorbell review
In reality, however, the latter isn’t really a new camera at all – it’s simply just a motorized mount that’s able to pair with the existing Blink Mini and give owners a broader look at their indoors.
When cradled by the mount, the Blink Mini can be remotely controlled to pan left and right and tilt up and down, staying connected through a Micro USB connector.
The Mini Pan-Tilt is available to pre-order today from Amazon, and can be packaged with the Blink Mini for $59.99 (a $4.99 saving on buying them separately).
The Blink Wired Floodlight Camera, meanwhile, is actually a new device.
It comes with built-in floodlights that offer up to 2,600 lumens of light when motion is detected, which, in turn, fires up a 1080p video feed with two-way talk support.
Naturally, Alexa can also be drafted in to help you pull up the camera feed through a Fire TV or Echo Show device.
Amazon noted during the announcement that the outdoor camera is powered by its own AZ2 Neural Edge Processor, which enables motion features such as activity zones and person detection, while also allowing the device to process data locally (rather than in the cloud).
This data can also be stored locally, as well, if you’re using a USB flash drive and the Blink Sync Module 2, though, otherwise, you’ll need a Blink subscription plan to store footage.
It’s not yet clear when the Wired Floodlight Outdoor will be available to purchase via Amazon, but we’ll update this story when we know more.
