Eufy states is the world's first home surveillance mesh
Eufy, the smart security wing of Anker Innovations, has taken the covers off of four new home security cameras; a new range that boasts dual cameras and AI cross-camera tracking technology.
The big thing across the new range, hardware wise at least, is those dual lenses, which offer up surveillance options never before on a home smart security cam.
The main lens, the one with the bigger sensor, is concerned with the wide angle high-resolution footage.
The other focuses on telephoto aspects; i.e. zooming in on key details such as people’s faces, clothes or license plates.
If that wasn’t enough, the footage the cameras track can be combined to provide multi-camera mash ups of an event from an array of vantage points.
Powered by the Eufy HomeBase 3 hub, this new AI software combines all of the images captured to provide edited clips that combine footage from across your Eufy camera setup range; so you get videos of the same event and/or person, organized chronologically into a single clip.
Eufy states this proprietary AI cross-camera tracking is the “world’s first home surveillance mesh powered by local AI” and who are we to say it’s not?
For example, you could see a burglar smash your front door in, ransack your living room, leave a dirty calling card in your kitchen sink, and then kick his way out of the back door and over the fence… all in one easy-to-view clip.
Or, less terrifyingly, you could get a notification of a clip whereby you see your kid arrive safely home from school, make herself a snack in the kitchen, do her homework in the dining room and play with the dog in the garden.
It’s like having your own security officer on the job 24/7, except this one won’t miss key events while he reads a magazine.
The good news is that this cross-camera tracking will also work with older, non dual-lens, Eufy security cameras such as the excellent EufyCam S330 that we recently reviewed.
Essentially, if your Eufy camera works with the HomeBase 3, it’ll work with the new AI cross-tracking tech.
Back to the cameras themselves and we’re looking at a pretty mixed bunch, with a doorbell, indoor, outdoor and multiple power options on offer.
Starting with the Indoor Cam S350, because it looks like a cute robot and this security camera is, as the name suggests, designed to live inside your house.
It boasts 4K resolution on the main lens and an impressive 8X zoom from the 2K telephoto lens, along with a 360-degree AI-assisted pan and tilt camera and infrared night vision.
Next up, there’s the SoloCam S340, a wire-free and solar-powered security camera with a 3K resolution / 2K telephoto, 360-degree pan and tilt and color night vision.
The Floodlight Cam E340 also offers that 3K / 2K dual camera setup but also features 24/7 recording capabilities.
Finally, the Eufy Video Doorbell E340 offers a 2K camera with color night vision and includes a dedicated second 1080p camera for AI package, human and pet detection.
The pricing and availability of the new range is as follows…
- Eufy Floodlight Cam E340 – $219.99 / £219.99
- Eufy Indoor Cam S350 – $129.99 / £129.99
- Eufy SoloCam S340 – $199.99 / £179.99
- Eufy Video Doorbell E340 – $179.99 / £159.99.
You can order them all right now, direct from Eufy or on Amazon.
The AI cross-tracking tech is currently in beta and Eufy users can sign up for a free trial. It will come at a cost (still TBC) when it launches later this year.
New Eufy X8 Pro
At the launch event we went to for the unveiling of the new cameras, Eufy also revealed its latest robo cleaner, the X8 Pro.
The X8 Pro does away with the advanced mopping skills of its bigger brother, the X9 Pro (it still does mop but it’s very much an ‘extra’ rather than a main event) but boasts a docking station that is much, much smaller than its pricier stablemate.
The dock is much more suited to small apartments and houses but still offers a 2.5-litre self-empty station that won’t need changing for 45 days.
It’s $649 Stateside, £599 in the UK and it’s also available now.
