Nanoleaf has long been one of our statement smart lighting picks for its modern, modular, triangular panels with app, touch and voice controls. Now it's gone one better with the square panelled, colour-changing Canvas, first announced at CES earlier this year.
You can sign up for a pre-order list now but Canvas will go on sale in November, "expected to retail" at £179.99 in the UK and Europe i.e. the same price as its original Nanoleaf Light Panels (previously called Nanoleaf Aurora). We'll update this story when we have US pricing.

Nanoleaf says that Canvas can be used to cover the walls and ceiling of an entire room (up to 1,000 panels) if that's your jam and the new square design will no doubt be easier to place in rooms than the triangle panels.
You can still create animations, tune the whites and change colours in the Nanoleaf Smarter Series companion app, there's schedules and light alarms and Nanoleaf Rhythm module, which allows the light panels to change in time to music you're playing, which is this time built in.
Nanoleaf is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit and IFTTT controls and we'd surprised if it doesn't work with Nanoleaf's zany HomeKit-compatible Remote. The smart home startup also says that the edge-lit design gives Canvas a "marble-like finish" - we'll be checking it out on the IFA showfloor in Berlin this week.
