Smart LED arrangement goes live ahead of the Holiday Season
We’ve long been advocates of making your Christmas lights smart here at The Ambient, and Signify has made it even easier ahead of this year’s festivities with the launch of the Philips Hue Festavia string lights.
Comprising a 20m string of 250 individual smart mini LED lights, the Hue Festavia string lights will give you full control of how you want your Christmas tree lights to sparkle.
Those lights are all controlled in the Hue app, where you can set color shades, add effects such as Sparkle, Fireplace or Candle; or choose the new Scattered effect that uses five colors randomly from one end of the string to the other to produce a seamless gradient of colour.
It’s not a new idea, brands like Govee and Twinkly have been offering LED strips like this for a while now, but for households with a Hue system in place, it’s a super simple way to add some smarts to your Christmas light arrangement.
Verdict: Philips Hue Perifo review
Obviously, this being Hue, you can create schedules in the app to have your Christmas lights shine when you want and, if you add Alexa, HomeKit, SmartThings or the Google Assistant to the mix, you can add the Festavia string lights to your Christmas automations and routines.
It doesn’t come cheap though. The Philips Hue Festavia string lights cost $160 Stateside, £140 in the UK.
You can order them directly from Philips Hue now, shipping starts on 15 November.
