The security giant's popular smart door lock gets a minor upgrade
Yale has unveiled a slightly smarter version of its Conexis smart door lock – the L2 – alongside a bevy of new security sensors.
Verdict: Yale Conexis L2 review
The £289.99 lock and handle hybrid, which is designed for doors with a five-point security system, now gives owners greater powers when away from their homes.
Many of the same functions remain from the L1, such as the ability to unlock the door via smartphone and share temporary keys, as well as automatic unlocking when you’re nearby.
However, with the Conexis L2, users can now unlock and monitor their door state remotely – given they also have the Yale Connect Wi-Fi Bridge, that is.
Yale also indicates that the second-gen model features improved encrypted security, as well as two-factor authentication and a tamper alarm. It’s also available in five colors: satin nickel, brass, chrome, black and white.
Full integration is present through the Yale Access app once again, as well, which allows users to easily set schedules and check locking/unlocking history.
Able to place alongside it in the app will be a group of new Sync smart alarm accessories.
They include the £79.99 Power External Siren, £74.99 Interlinked Smoke Detector, £34.99 Mini Door/Window Contact, £58.99 Outdoor Contact and £119.99 Outdoor Motion Detector.
None of these self-explanatory sensors are particularly groundbreaking in their own right, of course, but what is interesting is how this helps Yale compete with the home security systems that, previously, offered a few more accessories in their package.
It’s a great sign for anybody who’s already invested in the Sync system, as well as those with any other Yale devices in their home and just wants the ability to control them from within the same app.
The five new sensors will be available in early November.
