Smart pollutant monitor is the company's third-generation table top device
The Awair Air has gone live, the third-generation table top air quality monitor for the pollutant tracking specialist.
After launching its first generation smart air quality monitor back in 2017, followed by the 2nd-gen Awair model last year, the company is back with the bold claim that the Element is the most comprehensive and affordable air quality monitoring solution to date.
Affordable is relative, but it’s certainly easier on the wallet than the previous two models – coming with a $149 price tag, $50 less than the 2018 model.
The design has had a nice tweak too, with the Element featuring soft rounded edges as opposed to the squared, frame-like finish present on its predecessors.

Like those devices, the Awair Element can detect fine dust (known as PM 2.5) and help owners better understand the dangers of poor air quality within the home.
An overexposure to these fine dust particles, essentially any pollutants measuring less than 2.5 micrometers, can lead to health issues such as respiratory inflammation, cancer, heart disease and birth defects.
These are produced as a result of the burning of fossil fuels, cooking, smoking and burning candles. Lighting open fires can also lead to pollutants in your air.
As before, the Element can also track volatile organic compound chemicals, carbon dioxide, humidity and temperature, displaying a score for each of the measurements on the front. The score – out of 100 – is displayed on the device, giving users an easy indication on the quality of their indoor air.
If any of these measurements are on the rise in your home, the companion app can also give you a buzz. As a nice touch, the app gives you tips on how to improve the air score – advice that can also be personalized depending on which room the device sits in.
It also works well with the rest of your smart home too, Awair says that it will work with Alexa, Google Assistant, the Ecobee Thermostat and the Sensi Smart Thermostat.
Those smart thermostats will react to the Element’s air quality readings, automatically triggering your home’s HVAC system to dissipate pollution.
The Awair Element is out in the US and Canada now, you can order direct from Awair.
