CES 2022: HomeKit specialist reveals its new year line-up
HomeKit specialist Eve has used CES 2022 to launch the first ever floodlight camera designed exclusively for Apple HomeKit Secure Video: the Eve Cam Outdoor.
It’s not the first outdoor smart security camera to work with HomeKit Secure Video, the likes of the Logitech Circle View and the EufyCam 2 are both HSV-certified and offer weatherproofing, but Eve’s offering has a flood light with an ultra-strong light boost built in.
The HSV features of the Eve Outdoor Cam, the more rugged brethren to Eve’s indoor Cam, means your footage is privately analyzed by your HomeKit hub (Apple TV or HomePod) and uses on‑device intelligence to determine if people or pets are present.
With the Eve Outdoor Cam, if motion is detected users can get a notification that lets you view the clip from their iPhone Lock Screen. You can also view recorded video clips for for ten days in the Home app; it’s stored in your iCloud.

The IP55 certified Eve Outdoor Cam has a 157 degree wide angle lens, boasts IR night vision and records Full HD 1080p, 24fps, H.264 video.
There’s also a microphone and speaker in place for two-way talking. It works over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
The Eve Cam Outdoor will be available at the start of April, priced at $249.95.

Eve has also taken the covers off of its partnership with window coverings specialist Coulisse. The Eve MotionBlinds are the first smart blinds and shades to support Thread and will also be Matter smart home compliant.
Thread is a low-power mesh networking technology protocol designed to connect all the devices in your home. It will form a big part of the Matter smart home initiative, which is set to go live later this year.
Thread is good news for your HomeKit setup, take a look at our in-depth Thread explainer to understand why.
Eve is a big player in the Thread/Matter space. It rolled out Thread connectivity to a bunch of its HomeKit compatible smart home devices last year, including the likes of the new Eve Room, Eve Weather and the 2nd-gen Eve Aqua.
Back to the MotionBlinds, which are available now, you’ll need a Thread Border router in place for Thread connectivity (HomePod Mini or latest Apple TV 4K for now; more routers will be announced in the coming days) and, once you’ve added them to your HomeKit setup, they’ll join the Thread network automatically.
They also work over Bluetooth.
They are battery powered (rechargeable with USB-C) and are also manually controllable should you not have an Apple device to hand (or within earshot for Siri controls).
Prices depend on the size and materials you need for your specific windows. You can check out what’s available now over on motionblinds.com/eve.
