Here's what we could see at the Made by Google event
Google has included a teaser for new smart home products as part of the official confirmation of its upcoming ‘Made by Google’ event.
The announcements – set to take place on 6 October from 10am ET – will be headlined by the Pixel 7 range and the company’s first smartwatch, but, in the detail on its Ideas & Info blog, Google also indicates “additions to the Nest smart home portfolio” will be presented.

Google also notes in the post that all of the devices it’ll be unveiling will be shoppable on the same day through the official Google Store, while also being available to check out in person in its New York City stores.
Of course, the natural next step following the confirmation of this announcement is to speculate on what we might actually see.
Speculation is rife that a cheaper Chromecast model is being prepared by Google, and the 6 October date would appear to be the ideal time to launch a refreshed model.
However, given that multiple products are hinted at in Google’s announcement, it’s also likely we see some actual Nest-branded products. The most likely is a new Google Nest Wifi – potentially with Wi-Fi 6E support – though there could also be room for a wired Nest Doorbell, too, given recent rumors.
Other than that, it feels fairly wide open to guesses. It’s been a little while since we’ve seen a new Google Nest speaker, and, of course, there could be a completely left-field device appear that hasn’t previously been rumored.
We’ll only know for sure come 6 October, but we’ll be covering all the latest industry whispers and rumors between now and then, so stay tuned.
