Amazon-owned Ring has revealed its smallest, most affordable smart video doorbell yet: The Ring Video Doorbell Wired.
Costing a penny less than $60, the Ring Video Doorbell Wired undercuts the current cheapest offering from the smart security specialist, the 2nd-gen Ring Video Doorbell, by $30.
Looks-wise, it's a darn site prettier than the bulky battery-powered Rings; it looks a lot like the svelte Ring Peephole Cam.
Despite its diminutive form factor and that low price-point, the Ring Video Doorbell Wired still packs in plenty of smart tech, including Full HD 1080p video footage, night vision and two-way audio with noise cancellation.

Like the Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus, it also offers you the pre-roll feature. However, unlike on the Plus you get six seconds of color video, rather than four seconds of black and white, low frame rate footage.
The idea is that you can get more context behind what triggered an alert.
This feature is only available if you take out a Ring Protect subscription though; if you are a Ring Protect user you'll also get access to People Only Mode and Rich Notifications.
Ring Protect plans - which start from $3 a month - also get you access to the new Alexa Guard Plus feature, as well.
Outside of Ring's premium plans, everyone will get access to Customizable Motion Zones, Privacy Zones and Advanced Motion Detection with the new $59.99 smart doorbell.
By 'Wired' Ring means that the doorbell is powered by hooking the doorbell up to your regular doorbell wiring; there's no Ethernet option here as per the Ring Video Doorbell Elite.
The Ring Video Doorbell Wired is available to pre-order now, direct from Ring and on Amazon and will start shipping on 24 February.
