IFA 2022: The company continues to bolster its range of cameras
Yale is plugging an obvious hole in its collection of smart security cameras, unveiling a new Floodlight Camera as part of IFA 2022 in Berlin.
The camera doesn’t especially deviate from the outdoor smart cameras from the likes of Ring, Arlo or Nest, but there are still a couple of neat features here to play around with.
Multiple lighting modes, for example, allow you to configure the brightness of the camera’s attached floodlight (to a maximum of 2,000 lumens), while there’s also a 110dB built-in siren in order to ward off potential intruders.
Within the Yale app, users can also play around with motion zones in the camera’s view. This allows them to select the specific regions for which they receive movement notifications, providing both peace of mind and conserving battery by allowing the camera to ignore high-traffic areas.
Verdict: Yale Conexis L2 review
The Floodlight Camera’s video quality is limited to 1080p, which could be bettered by going with a rival camera, but this is still more than good enough to receive a crisp view of the outside of your home.
It also has the benefit of supporting Micro SD cards for local storage, and there’s also no monthly charge for accessing recordings stored in the Yale View app, which is always something to celebrate.
It also features an IP65 weather rating, meaning it can survive fairly gnarly water and dust exposure, and, as you would expect, requires mains power.
The Floodlight Camera has been priced fairly competitively at £169.99, with the device going on sale via Yale and other retailers on 28 September.
